| The Can Am Baker Doubles traveled to Sterling Lanes in Sterling Heights for our second tournament of January. Thirty-nine teams made the trip, but only one team stood alone at the end. Jason Lewis and Jim Lauricella defeated Jerry Penxa and Jon Kennedy 208-202 in close exciting match. Penxa and Kennedy had a chance to shut the door in the 10th with a double, but only got the first strike. Lauricella stepped up and made them pay as he struck out to win the match and take home the title. Lewis and Lauricella collected $1,100 for the victory while Penxa and Kennedy settled for the second place prize of $600. Once again the power house team of Jason Neiman and Rich Rathburn lapped the field in qualifying with an eight game total of 1969, but could only get through two rounds in the finals to finish in 7th place. It took a score of 1773 to make the elimination round. Our next tournament will be February 23rd at Taylor Lanes in Taylor. This is our scratch tournament, there is no average cap. Qualifying time is 12:15. |
